“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” 2 Timothy 2.2 (NIV) We often quote this Scripture in the context of leadership and discipleship, and rightly so. For example, at the Institut Biblique du Québec, if our calling is to train and equip pentecostal leaders for effective ministry, we know that effective ministry is ministry that reproduces itself, each according to its kind (Ge. 1.12).

It is with great pleasure that we announce our upcoming Spiritual Leadership and Culture of Honour Conference that will be held March 27-29, 2014. Danny and Sheri Silk serve on the Senior Management Team at Bethel Church in Redding, CA. Danny is the director of Global Transformation Institute and oversees the Bethel Staff development. Together they are the founders of Loving On Purpose Educational Services, a ministry to families and communities worldwide.
Before going to bed this Saturday night, don’t forget to adjust your clocks. You could also try and go to bed an hour earlier to make up for the lost hour of sleep… And remember, if you can’t sleep, speaking with the Shepherd works better than counting the sheep… And if you like to anticipate (as we all should!), don’t forget to note in your agenda that our next jetlag is due November 2nd…
We are very pleased to welcome you on our -your- new website and hope that it will be pleasing to you and will serve you well. Thanks to our webmaster Jonathan Bersot and especially to Mathieu Laurin who has worked a lot to make me look like a computer whiz (though few of you who know me will be fooled…). Please take a few minutes to visit it. If you find any “bug”, well, we are still in the construction phase. Kind of like Sochi when the Olymnpics started…
The situation is changing so quickly that by the time I write something, it’s already changed… The revolution is now forcing the parliament to change as well… They basically don’t want anyone who was involved in the corrupt system of the last 20 years to be part of the new government at all. Whether or not this is possible in the short term, we shall see… As far as us personally, we are doing ok. These days, the best thing to do is to stay as quiet as a mouse.
The Vincent family – one of our missionary families to Haiti – has been thrown out of their house roughly and without notice. Brigitte, Stéphane’s wife, gives us some details: “We were kicked out of our house today (Feb. 19), due to legal problems involving the homeowner. We had nothing to do with it. A group of men, including police officers, stormed in and started carrying things out of the house; they broke a lot of things, and put stuff everywhere – even in the street, and they told us to leave. Our eyes saw the wickedness in the hearts of men, but when we look to God we see His protection: the men did not touch us, did not steal anything, and did not break anything of value like the computers. We got help from our friends quickly! We emptied the house within two hours! All this is troubling, but we believe that God knows all things. We have moved in with Pastor Michel and it will be okay…
Our District Secretary-Treasurer John Ippolito has been ministering in Africa the last couple of weeks. He has also been very ill (severe gastro) but is doing much better: I spent last week at a retreat center just outside Kampala, Uganda. I was there for a retreat with the newly-elected leadership team of Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) Uganda. This included the 3 National Officers, and the Bishops (Superintendent for us), Secretary Treasurers, and Ministry Coordinators from each of the PAG’s 24+ Districts. Over 70 men attended. Each of these Bishops would have hundreds of churches under them (there are 5,000 churches in the fellowship).
Please do support this great new church plant right downtown Montreal. Evangel Church initiated this project, Pastor Normand Charlebois being the leader of this new ministry. Let us keep him, his wife and family as well as their team on our prayers that God may keep and guide them in the mission He has called them to!
Our congratulations to Pastor Robert Chartier and his wife Line! Our brother was elected without much surprise as Senior Pastor of the Église de la Parole Vivante in Berthierville on Sunday, Feb. 23rd. He was already their interim pastor after a season of close collaboration with the Drummondville church – a relationship that will certainly continue under a different form.
The Carrefour Chrétien de l’Estrie has moved into its new building, following the vision that had grown in their hearts these past few years. To underline this important move, an official inaugural will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014. All are cordially invited for an Open Door starting at 1 pm, followed by a cocktail dinner at 5 pm (reservation required) and a concert at 7 pm.
Paradox 2014 is right at the door! Please pray for the preparation of this major youth event coming up. Remember also the team that is working very hard. Click here to meet the team. The Youth Conference exists to provide young believers the opportunity to get together, to stock up on spiritual resources, and to meet other young Christians. The main objective of this conference is to contribute to the development of a Christian youth culture and to its growth through preaching, dynamic workshops, concerts, and worship services. This youth conference promises to be an extraordinary time for our young people and it will undoubtedly contribute to the development of their relationship with God and with their brothers and sisters in the faith.
This year again, the Escuminac Camp will offer a wonderful time of fellowship, relaxing and nourishment. Don’t miss this great opportunity. The whole team is working hard at making this a memorable event for all participants, regardless of their age. Main speakers will be Kevin Johnson and Michel Bisaillon.
I have let some time go by before writing to you as I was waiting for some answers concerning major changes in my life and that of my family. Some will be surprised, but others will recognize me in who I am, a guy full of projects. So there is three great news in this month of February.
Mark the date in your agenda! The presence of some of our English pastors and leaders will certainly mean a lot to our graduates and those who teach and train them.
